The Ten (10) Uncommonly Used Filipino Words
These are considered old Filipino or Tagalog words, however, they are rarely heard or used nowadays, as Filipinos, particularly the younger generations, prefer to use popular Filipino phrases.
Despite the fact that these words had seemingly fallen out of favor, they nevertheless have that spark that contributes to making the Filipino language more intriguing by providing a glimpse into the past through archaic words from the past. Even if you don’t recognize it or confess it, hearing some of these words brings back memories of your childhood spent with your grandparents or great grandparents.
WHY DO WE HAVE TO TAKE INTEREST IN INDULGING THESE FILIPINO WORDS THAT ARE NOT COMMONLY USED?
Although many people prefer to use these phrases and their synonyms, these unique and infrequently used Filipino words are nonetheless worth knowing. Learning as much as possible is also an excellent method to immerse oneself in the language and gain a better comprehension of it.

Marahuyo (Enchanted) When used in a sentence, “Marahuyo” is used as a verb to display enchantment or to be enchanted by someone. It can also be used to express attraction to someone.
Siping (Sleeping with a loved one) Sleeping with your partner is the most romantic thing you can do. “Siping” is a lovely verb in the Filipino language.
Ulayaw (Intimate Companion) The term “ulayaw” is used to designate a close friend. This does not have to be a romantic partner; it might be refer to a close friend.
Sapantaha (Hunch or Assumption) This is a word used when your hunch or assumption is correct. Akala is the Tagalog word colloquially used.
Samyo (Smell) This is an archaic Filipino term that you won't hear nowadays. Amoy is a word that is frequently used. Both amoy and samyo mean "smell" or "fragrance."
Dayang (Darling) It's also appropriate for a princess or a noblewoman. What a wonderful term to use when you want to make your lady feel special.
Pahimakas (Farewell) You would use the noun "pakimakas" to say your final goodbye or farewell, but "pahimakas" can also be used as an adjective if you are parting or saying farewell.
Kinaiya (Describes your Inner Character) These aren't just your positive qualities. It's all of your attributes or traits that make you who you are.
Huwad (Fake) Peke is a common word for false that is remarkably similar to its English counterpart, isn't it? Huwad is a Filipino word that has been around for a long time.
Alpas (Break-free) Being free from confinement, to get out and get away.
